What Actually Drives the Price of Private Label Eyelashes

Two factories quote you for “the same” private label lash order. One quote comes in much lower than the other. Before you take the cheaper one, it is worth knowing which levers a factory can pull to get that number down — and what changes when they do.

These are the main items to compare when reviewing private-label lash quotes.

1. What goes into each pair

Price depends on the lash design, length mapping, curl, fiber specifications, density and packing quantity. Suppliers describe these differently, and the same number does not always mean the same thing.

One common mistake is comparing quotes for products with different specifications. Two styles with different density specifications can look and cost very different, even at the same length. Ask each supplier to define its D value and to confirm the actual product specification, rather than assuming the labels are directly comparable.

A related one: box content. Box content varies by series. If one supplier quotes per box and another quotes per pair, you are comparing two different units. Always convert to a cost per pair before you compare.

2. How the curl is set

Heat-setting methods and quality-control procedures can affect production costs and curl consistency. Differences in how much heat-setting a supplier applies, or how the finished curl is checked, may affect how a style performs after a full day of wear.

You will not see that difference in a photo, or in a sample that was made carefully by hand for you. Ask how the curl is checked against the approved sample, and whether your production run uses the same process. Those are fair questions, and a factory that understands its process can answer both.

3. Hand-tied or machine-tufted

Machine tufting is how we make our lashes, and it is how most volume production is made. It gives more consistent cluster counts and shapes across a run.

Hand-knotted and machine-tufted lashes use different production methods and may differ in labour cost, appearance and price. If your market pays a premium for a handmade look, that is a real product decision — but make sure you are actually buying hand work.

4. Packaging, and how much of it is custom

Packaging can make a substantial difference to a private-label quote, especially when printed boxes require a separate production run. It is also where the MOQ tier structure comes from:

What you are buyingStarting point
Existing styles in their current packaging20 boxes per style
Your logo or label on our existing box200 boxes
Your own box design, printed500 boxes
Your agreed product and packaging specifications1,000 boxes per style

Ready-stock orders can mix styles, with a minimum of 20 boxes per style. MOQ is calculated per style, not per order. The private-label and packaging tiers are explained in more detail on our OEM & private label page.

Custom packaging may involve artwork preparation, printing setup and minimum production quantities. Whether you need a fully printed box or just a sticker on an existing one can change your total outlay more than any negotiation on unit price.

If you are new to the category, start with a label on an existing box. You can move to a printed box once you know the style sells.

5. Order size, and freight

Larger orders may reduce unit costs, depending on the style, packaging and production setup. What buyers often underestimate is freight.

Express courier is often practical for samples and small orders; sea freight may be more economical for larger shipments, depending on volume, destination and local charges. Lashes are light and bulky, so the chargeable weight or volume is what the freight quote is built on.

We quote FOB Qingdao by default; EXW and CIF are available on request. An FOB quote does not represent your full landed cost. Under CIF, freight and insurance to the named destination port are included, but import clearance and duties remain your responsibility. Our shipping and payment page sets out how orders are shipped and paid for.

6. Payment method and terms

Our standard terms are 30% deposit and 70% before shipment by T/T, with bank details on your proforma invoice. Small sample or trial orders, generally under USD 1,000, may be paid by PayPal invoice — convenient, but the fees per dollar are higher, which is why we reserve it for small orders and use bank transfer for production orders.

If a quote looks unusually low, it is worth asking what payment channel it assumes and who absorbs the fee.

7. How many changes you make along the way

Every revision after a sample is approved costs time. A new curl, a new length mapping, new box artwork or a different band colour usually means some work has to be redone.

Confirm the final specifications in writing and retain the approved sample before production. A confirmed sample is what both sides check against later.

How to compare two quotes properly

Ask each supplier for the same eight things in the same units:

  1. Cost per pair (not per box)
  2. Length range, curl, and how the supplier defines its fiber specification
  3. Band type
  4. Box content (pairs per box)
  5. Packaging: existing box, label, or fully printed
  6. Trade term and the freight estimate, quoted separately
  7. MOQ per style, and whether styles can be mixed in one order
  8. Lead time, and whether it is production time or door-to-door

Comparing these eight items helps identify whether the price difference comes from product specifications, packing quantities, freight or other terms. You can see the current range in our wholesale catalogue.
